CSA Group is pleased to announce the launch of a project to develop a new national Standard on Work Disability Management for the Paramedic Community, with a focus on addressing post-traumatic stress injury (PTSI).
This project is being funded under the Canadian Safety and Security Program (CSSP) managed through Defense Research and Development Canada (DRDC) Centre for Security Science (CSS). Project partners providing support are: County of Renfrew Paramedic Service, Paramedic Association of Canada, Paramedic Chiefs of Canada, Canadian Institute for Safety, Wellness, & Performance at Conestoga College Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning, and the Centre for Research on Work Disability Policy (CRWDP).

RCMP say a man is facing several charges after an ambulance was stolen in the Newfoundland and Labrador community of Sheshatshiu.
Police say the ambulance had been called to residence around 12:20 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, and they allege it was subsequently stolen by a man who was at the home.

An official with Medavie Health Services West says their paramedics in Saskatoon had their busiest year so far in 2019. They saw a record 31,440 emergency responses last year compared to 30,845 in 2018.
Medavie public affairs director Troy Davies said the trend in call volume is going upwards. He attributes the rising numbers to a growing population and an increase in overdose calls.

Steven Snively and Christopher Marchant, charged with failing to provide the necessaries of life, were scheduled to be in Ontario Superior Court for the judge-alone trial expected to last four weeks.

One person is in hospital after being rescued from a car that became submerged in a water-filled ditch in Surrey, B.C., police say.
Two members of a police road-safety unit came across the scene of an accident on Highway 10 near 168 Street, Surrey RCMP said in a statement. A vehicle had gone off the road into a water-filled ditch and become fully submerged.
