On Tuesday, voters in Georgia re-elected Raphael Warnock, delivering a much-needed 51st vote in the U.S. Senate.
This victory comes on the heels of a midterm election where pundits predicted an all-but inevitable “red wave” that wasn’t, and voters soundly rebuked right-wing extremism and attacks on abortion rights.
What these results tell us is that together, we are redefining what is possible.
But while these election results are a reprieve, we still have mountains to move.
Our democracy is under siege from corporate power and the rising tide of the authoritarian right. And with increasing costs of living, millions of working families find themselves struggling to make ends meet.

As this election season comes to a close, we begin to look to a new year – where we’ll face new challenges as well as new opportunities with a Republican-controlled House and an increased Democratic majority in the Senate.
We’ll need to stand united against the hostage-taking, black-mailing and loud distractions that the Republican House is sure to unleash.
And we’ll need to have the backs of our new class of WFP rising stars including Austin’s Greg Casar, Chicago’s Delia Ramirez, Pittsburgh’s Summer Lee, and Florida’s Maxwell Frost, who can stiffen the Democratic Party’s spine for the many fights ahead.
