Hi John, let’s be real. I know that every day your inbox is flooded with hundreds of emails. It’s an attention economy and there’s just a lot going on. If you’re going to take a few moments to really read through one of our emails to you, this is the one.
I’m going to lay out Sunrise Movement’s situation as we move into the new year.
First, I want to look back on what our movement was able to accomplish together this year. We beat back fascism. Sunrise volunteers helped win Rev. Raphael Warnock’s re-election, mobilized to get a new slate of young climate leaders into office, and protected AND expanded the Senate’s Democratic majority, taking away the power of Joe Manchin’s vote. Our generation held back the red wave. And we paved the way for the Inflation Reduction Act — the biggest investment in our climate in decades. Our collective climate movement won an unprecedented $370 billion in climate investments for our communities. That’s huge.
And now, we’re preparing for our first National Movement Gathering next Monday — you can RSVP to our livestream of the gathering here if you haven’t yet! [[link removed]]
On top of that, we’re launching new campaigns like the GND4Schools and GND for Communities next year to train young climate activists how to organize effectively while simultaneously building widespread public support for a Green New Deal.
As we look toward the ✨next era of Sunrise ✨we’re doing everything we can to build a strong foundation to win a Green New Deal, reproductive rights, voting rights, and more in 2023 and beyond.
So as we prepare for our National Movement Gathering and the work ahead, we’ve set an ambitious goal of getting 1,000 new monthly donors by December 31 to sustain our work moving forward.
Monthly grassroots donors help our movement in multiple ways. First, it’s reliable monthly revenue that keeps the movement financially stable which in turn helps us sustain our direct actions over longer periods of time. Second, the number of donors we have indicates strong popular support for our movement and the future we’re fighting for.
By joining our base of monthly donors, you will be making a significant collective impact on our capacity to fight for a livable future.
John, can we count on you to help us sustain our work over the next year by committing to becoming a monthly Sunrise donor today? Monthly donors give an average of $17 a month but I hope you will give at whatever level you can right now. [[link removed]]

We have a long road ahead but I know that together we can win the world we deserve. We couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve done so far. And your role in our movement doesn’t go unnoticed. None of this would have been possible without the support of grassroots donors like you, John.
And we’re not planning to slow down. We’re trying to build a movement that can match the scale of the threats we face and we can’t do that without you. That’s why it’s so critical that we have dependable, consistent contributions that we can use to sustain our ambitious campaigns for 2023 and beyond.
We believe in the power of this movement to achieve big things in the year ahead. Can you be one of the 1,000 monthly contributions we need to transform our work and sustain our movement in the new year? [[link removed]]
