If you had told me 24 years ago, when I was first elected to the House of Representatives, that today Congress would be passing federal protections for marriage equality with bipartisan support, I would have said you were joking.

The tireless work to achieve progress and equality is paying off. Together, we’ve made giant strides toward LGBTQ equality, and when President Biden signs the Respect for Marriage Act into law, it will be a huge step forward for millions of Americans.
