John – Maxwell Frost wasn’t planning to run for Congress.
When his colleagues first encouraged him to run for office, he said no. It wasn’t until he spoke with hundreds of people in his community who repeatedly encouraged him to go for it that he finally said yes.
Now he’s on his way to D.C. as the youngest member of the House of Representatives ever elected, and the first member of Gen Z to serve in Congress.
Running for office is a big decision, and it takes a lot of courage. Our system is not designed to make it easy for working people to campaign and keep a roof over their heads.
BNC candidates are regular working people, organizers and activists. Most weren’t planning to run for Congress; they had to be convinced by their community, their colleagues, or by partner organizations like Brand New Congress.
Most continue working full time jobs while running their campaigns, which comes with many challenges.
Brand New Congress stands by our candidates through thick and thin, because we’re building for long-term political change.
Since 2016 BNC has led the way in advancing popular policies like Medicare for All and the Green New Deal and electing bold progressive fighters. We recruited and elected AOC in 2018 and in 2020, added Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman. Now we have 10 BNC Representatives elected, including our first Senator John Fetterman, and we are still growing progressive power in Congress.
Our work for 2024 has already begun. Pitch in today and join us as we take over Congress and return power to the people.
