This includes the state where I live, Ohio, which became infamous for it's ridiculous six week ban that forced a 10-year old who was raped to leave the state to get an abortion--Ohio's Republican legislators chose to emotionally assault her after she'd already suffered a physical assault.
I bring this up as it shows how much of a random role geography and history play into a life changing issue, as a woman who happened to be born or settle to the south of me, in Kentucky, has her reproductive rights, as does a woman to the north of me, in Michigan. But a woman nearby in Ohio, is completely out of luck unless she can afford what might be an expensive trip out of state.
This is where the National Network of Abortion Funds steps in. They ensure that women, no matter their geography, gerrymandered state legislature or any other factors have access to their most basic rights--that they retain control of their bodies instead of handing it over to the state. The Network helps with financial costs of the procedure, childcare, travel, translation and a place to stay, if necessary.
They are truly, in this dark time for women's rights, doing the work of the angels, and continuing in the long tradition of the underground railroad and suffragettes, among others, to help those whom our government(s) has abandoned.
Can you please rush $5, $10, $25 or more to the National Network of Abortion Funds and Blue Amp Action to protect abortion access this season?
Without getting too cheeky, it is cold in many parts of the country from October-March, and pregnancies tend to increase. So if you could help out now, it would be a huge boost to women just trying to get by and not have their rights stripped from them by oppressive governments.
Thank you for your compassion,
