"We [banned assault weapons] before, and guess what? It worked ... We can do it again. It's common sense."

John,
President Biden is not letting up on his call to ban weapons of war from our streets – and Brady isn't either.
Last night, Biden again pleaded for Congress to ban assault weapons, this time at a vigil for victims of gun violence on the ten year anniversary of the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary, when a gunman with an AR-15 shot and killed 28 people, most of them children.
Parents of some of the 17 victims in Uvalde, TX, stood alongside those from Newtown in solidarity and grief, a position no parent nor family should ever have to be in. But if we don't ban these weapons of war, our children and our nation will remain at risk: Gun violence is now the number one cause of death for children in the United States. This is unacceptable and we must act now to save lives.
Right now, our lawmakers have the power to pass an assault weapons ban and save lives – but we have less than a month to do it, before the new Congress is sworn in and NRA crony politicians could threaten our progress. That's why we need your help today. Can you help us show Congress that the majority of Americans support banning weapons of war?
We're still missing your response from our rapid-response survey and we are counting on 26 more supporters in your area to speak out:
