Dear CIRC members, supporters, allies, funders and donors, It is my pleasure to reach out to you as CIRC’s Interim Executive Director to introduce myself and let you know how things are going in this time of transition. While change at the top always creates ripples, I am proud to inform you that CIRC’s staff and board continue to be committed to the necessary and ground-breaking work that we have been doing and will continue doing into 2020. Working closely with our transition team, we will be implementing plans to ensure that the organization is able to emerge from changes, ready for what lies ahead. CIRC continues forward in the following areas: - Build civic and voter engagement among immigrant, Black, Latinx and Asian low-propensity voters in key districts throughout the state of Colorado to ensure that immigrant issues are at the frontline of this year’s election
- Continue to defend the rights of immigrants through our ongoing rapid response ICE Resistance Hotline
- Push a narrative that bolsters American values about keeping families together
- Work to expand access to legal resources for families with loved ones in deportation through legislation, through creating a community navigator program in rural areas that will expand local capacity and through accreditation of more member organizations that are helping create new Americans.
- Build the capacity of community organizations to fully benefit from the expansion of Driver’s Licenses Offices from 4 to 11 throughout the State.
- Work hand in hand with the Department of Motor Vehicles to improve customer services
- Work with Colorado legislators to pass bills that benefit immigrant and refugee families statewide and that protect privacy and security.
- Build a community navigator program in rural areas to ensure that all immigrants everywhere have access to the legal services they need
- We continue to provide citizenship workshops for 800 legal permanent residents to gain citizenship status
- Offer workshops and resource referrals to individuals with DACA to help individuals renew and maintain their status
Our work has impact in people’s lives every day. We ask your continued support as we walk through the transition. Our staff is committed and passionate about their work and looking forward to more success in the future. We will be reaching out to our funders and donors and key partners for more in-depth conversations, but please reach out to me if you have any concerns or questions at all.
