Montana Democratic Party

John,

The Respect for Marriage Act, which will codify same-sex and interracial marriage, passed in the Senate on Tuesday with 61 votes. This is a massive win to protect the right to marry who you love, rather than relying on the Supreme Court to protect it.

One of the votes against the bill was none other than Montana Senator Steve Daines. He made his thoughts on same-sex marriage pretty clear earlier this year, stating "I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I'm opposed to this bill."

According to Gallup, 71% of Americans, including 55% of Republicans support same-sex marriage as a federally protected right. A wide majority of 69% of Montanans support protecting same-sex marriage as well. So why would Daines vote against something so clearly popular across the country and in his own state?

It’s because he wants to prove to Donald Trump’s base that he’s on board with right-wing extremism. Chip in $20 to help us fight back against Daine’s and support protecting same-sex and interracial marriage in Montana and in this country!
