Dear John,
We’ve reached the finale of How to Save a Country season one! And my co-host Michael Tomasky and I have a very special guest—Senator Elizabeth Warren, a long-time champion of progressive ideas and public investment.
Famous for her detailed plans, Sen. Warren deeply understands the ins and outs of policy. She also understands that the how and why of policymaking are just as important.
“Government is the vehicle for letting us do together what none of us can do alone,” Sen. Warren told Michael and me. “We all contribute and it expands opportunity for all of us, and I feel like that's what's really been missing as we've become a post–New Deal nation.”
Listen now to our interview with Senator Warren.
That approach captures the essence of the progressive movement, and of this podcast. It’s been an incredible journey exploring ideas that can make this country more democratic and just with some of our country’s brightest thinkers, doers, and advocates—from Heather Cox Richardson to Roosevelt’s own Rhiana Gunn-Wright to new House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries, to name a few. And, over the last few months, many of our guests have agreed on this: Our country's strength depends on investing in our people and acting together for the common good.
Listen to the episode “Good Policy, Good Politics” for more of Sen. Warren’s take on how we can save our country—with people-centered policies like student debt relief and universal childcare. And stay tuned for bonus episodes in the coming weeks!
Thanks for listening,
