Friend, as we near the end of 2022, we are taking time to
reflect on the work we’ve done together to advance and defend immigrants’
rights.
Before we do, we want to say thank you for being a part of our work to bring justice to immigrants across the country.
Our work wouldn’t be possible without you.
Here are just a few of the highlights of what we did together:
* We spent the year relentlessly advocating for the end of cruel Trump-era
policies that endanger asylum seekers. NILC-IJF supporters contacted their
representatives thousands of times in support of restoring our asylum system.
* Following the Fifth Circuit Court’s ruling on DACA, we ramped up our fight
for DACA recipients and immigrant youth, calling on Congress to pass a
long-overdue pathway to citizenship. And our fight is still underway, urging
the 117th Congress to act before the Republican House majority takes over in
January.
* In November’s midterms, we demonstrated that we can win elections with an
inclusive, pro-immigrant vision for our country. Two of our endorsees, Rep.
Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) and Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA), won their elections, and
many extremist, Trump-endorsed candidates in battleground states lost on
election night. Additionally, Arizonans voted to grant DACA recipients access
to in-state tuition and in Massachusetts, voters removed proof of citizenship
requirements to obtain a driver’s license.
These achievements and more are thanks to your partnership with us. We’re wishing you and your loved ones a happy and healthy holiday season and
look forward to accomplishing even more together in 2023.
Sincerely,
Bri Gillis
