Following the 2020 election, Trump and his allies tried to overturn the will of voters by exploiting vague language found in the Electoral Count Act of 1887 — the law that dictates how electoral votes are counted in presidential elections.
His plan to steal the election by having Republican-controlled state legislatures override the will of voters didn’t work then, but it could work in 2024. Unless Congress acts now.
As our most recent video explains, there are key reforms to the Electoral Count Act waiting to be passed during the current lame-duck session that would stop Trump’s next attempted coup.
The House already passed its own bipartisan bill reforming the ECA. Now the Senate must do the same.
