Join Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA) in urging Congress to pass key legislative measures before the end of the year to promote justice and equality for individuals involved in the criminal justice system and to provide police with the skills and tools necessary to respond appropriately to the needs of the communities they serve.

The Eliminating a Quantifiably Unjust Application of the Law Act (EQUAL Act, H.R. 1693) has passed the House and is before the Senate. This bill will promote the fair treatment of all defendants by reducing bias in federal drug sentencing laws that have historically led to unequal outcomes across racial groups.

Additionally, the Law Enforcement De-Escalation Training Act (S. 4003) will provide critical funding needed for law enforcement training in de-escalation and crisis response techniques in order to safely respond to calls from individuals experiencing mental and behavioral health crises.

Tell Congress to enact these important bills before the end of the 117th Congress Session.
