Dear friend,

My name is Josh Johnson, and I’m a Senior Technical Assistance Specialist at the National Alliance to End Homelessness. My team, the Center for Capacity Building, works one-on-one with communities across the country to help them implement best practices for ending homelessness.

This work isn’t new for me: having worked as a homeless service provider in Ohio, I’ve seen the impact that good training can have on communities. And with the continued effects of the pandemic still rippling across the country, I’ve seen firsthand how providers have used the Alliance’s guidance, resources, advocacy, and trainings to shape their work for the better.

But we can’t do this work alone. Ending homelessness takes all of us.

This year, our team has traveled to Florida, North Carolina, and several other states to help communities in their work to end homelessness – and collaborated virtually with many more, especially through the Alliance’s Center for Learning. We’ve spoken to dozens of homeless service providers who commit themselves, day in and day out, to get people off the streets and into housing.

This work is hard: it often requires homeless service providers to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Throughout the course of the pandemic, it’s gotten even harder as providers navigate increased demands on their systems, continued COVID measures, and higher housing costs for their clients.

As hard as this work is, homeless service providers across the country have expressed gratitude for the Alliance’s depth of resources and trainings that help end homelessness in their communities. These are vital to ensure that communities maximize capacity, and are equipped to efficiently and effectively utilize their already-thin resources to end homelessness.

But we can only keep doing this with your strong support. We are committed to ending homelessness. And we’re committed to supporting each and every community across the nation to do it.

We can’t do it alone. Please consider joining us to end homelessness this holiday season.

Sincerely,

Josh Johnson
