A top FBI official has stepped down just as House Republicans have announced plans to investigate recent operations and actions at the bureau.
 
In a Dec. 2 post to his LinkedIn profile, Steven D’Antuono, assistant director in charge of the FBI Washington Field Office, announced his retirement. “After a 26-year, 10-month career with the FBI, I chose to retire,” D’Antuono wrote. “Yesterday was my last day.”

Loudoun County Public School officials put their own interests above that of their students in their handling of two sexual assaults committed by the same transgender student, according to a 24-page grand jury report released on Monday.
 
"LCPS administrators were looking out for their own interests instead of the best interests of LCPS. This invariably led to a stunning lack of openness, transparency, and accountability both to the public and the special grand jury," reads the report, after the grand jury uncovered evidence that the district was aware of multiple sexual assaults that occurred on two high school campuses in 2021 - yet failed to inform community members about them over 'privacy concerns.'

8. House Financial Services Chair Waters Doesn’t Plan to Subpoena Sam Bankman-Fried to Testify at Hearing on FTX Collapse
House Financial Services Committee Chair Maxine Waters told Democrats she doesn’t plan to subpoena former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried to testify at Tuesday’s hearing about the crypto exchange’s rapid demise, according to people with direct knowledge of the conversation.
 
Waters informed committee members of her decision at a private meeting Tuesday with Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Gary Gensler on Capitol Hill, these people said, declining to be named in order to speak freely about private conversations.

5. DHS Mayorkas Rewards Haitian Exodus with TPS Temporary Amnesty
President Joe Biden’s border agency is using the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) program to pull another 110,000 Haitian migrants deeper into Americans’ economy and society.
 
The much-expanded TPS program now gives temporary work permits and legal residency to 250,000 poor Haitian migrants. That total includes roughly 110,000 Haitian illegal migrants who have walked across the border since the prior expansion of the Haitian TPS program in July 2021.
