For more than 50 years, the Urban Institute has been a trusted source for changemakers seeking to improve lives and strengthen communities. Urban has consistently delivered facts that inspire solutions—and this remains our charge today—but we know evidence alone is not enough to effect change.
Today, our work includes a comprehensive portfolio of evidence-informed capabilities to ensure meaningful change is deliberate and achievable. This includes providing on-the-ground technical assistance; building learning communities; advising community leaders, philanthropies, and policymakers; and running grantmaking competitions to elevate promising ideas and target resources to realize them.
What does this look like in practice? It’s convening educators and practitioners in schools to support decisions that improve student outcomes. It’s engaging employers, policymakers, and workers to rebuild the labor market into one that promotes economic mobility and justice for all. At Urban, our researchers don’t simply provide data; they collaborate with leaders like you to enact solutions.
