The federal government collects an unbelievable amount of money every year from hard-working American citizens. According to a new report, the average household sent $228,000 to D.C. between 2010 and 2019.
What would you have done with $228,000 over the last 10 years? Bought a new house? Sent all your kids to college?
Of course, the federal government needs to collect some taxes to perform their constitutional duties. But the fact is, as we've pointed out time and again, much of this money is thrown away on useless programs, extra-constitutional activities, and wasteful spending.
Enough is enough. Congress needs a wakeup call, and Article V gives the people and the states a way to send one.
Article V allows the states to gather to propose amendments to the Constitution. These amendments can force Congress to be fiscally responsible by limiting spending and taxation. Congress will have no choice but to cut useless, wasteful programs and scaling back the scope of their involvement in our lives.
