Friend-- I just bagged my two deer for this hunting season. Using an assault weapon never crossed my mind because it'd leave me with Swiss cheese, not meat I can eat and share with friends.
I grew up in rural Pennsylvania. I've hunted my whole life. The only thing an assault weapon is good for is to hunt other humans. It's why I'm pushing to ban assault weapons.
If ever there has been a year to ban assault weapons, this is it. 2022 has seen assault weapons kill elementary students in Uvalde and terrorize patriotic celebrations in Highland Park. Here in Pennsylvania, we felt their deadly power at a mass shooting in Unityville in rural Northeast PA a last month. [1]
The uniquely American epidemic of mass shootings is driven by the easy access to military-style assault weapons. Anyone can walk into a store and minutes to hours later, walk out with a weapon of war that can cause mass devastation in seconds.

We don’t have to live like this. We should be able to live free from this fear.
The U.S. House has already passed the bill, and President Biden has committed to signing it – we just need the U.S. Senate to act. Together, we can make it happen.
