THANK YOU to all our volunteer organizers who came out to St. Roch Park this past Saturday for our monthly Brake Light Clinic + Health Fair. We had some great convos with neighbors, changed some lights, and enjoyed some delicious BBQ. Glad to see so many new and familiar faces! We hope to see everyone again at our General Meeting on Saturday, December 17th!
ELECTION RUNOFF | THIS SATURDAY, DEC. 10TH
The Runoff Election is this Saturday, December 10th! Check your ballot and voting location here!
Baton Rouge DSA Member Davante Lewis has pushed incumbent Lambert Boissiere into a runoff for Public Service Commissioner. We made a recommendation to vote for anyone but Boissiere in the primary, and our recommendation stands for the Runoff election on December 10th. Our comrades with Baton Rouge DSA and Sunrise Movement New Orleans have endorsed Davante Lewis. Sunrise Movement New Orleans is hosting phonebanks for Lewis.
LOWE’S WORKERS UNITED NOLA CALL TO ACTION | TODAY AND TOMORROW
Call to Action! Today and Tomorrow (Weds and Thurs 12/7-8) between 9AM and 5PM, call the Lowes Store on Elysian Fields at 504-948-8568 and ask for the store manager, and call corporate at 1-800-445-6937! Tell them about your experiences being helped by Ms. Pat and demand that she be reinstated.
On October 13th, Lowes Workers at Store 2470 in New Orleans filed their petition to unionize. On November 18th, Lowes retaliated by targeting and firing an 18 year veteran of the store who was outspoken in her support of the union effort. She lost healthcare coverage on Thanksgiving Day. She was eligible for full retirement on January 7th. Her family asked that Lowe's Workers United NOLA share this GoFundMe for her.
When you call the store, the store manager will falsely claim that Ms. Pat quit. When you call the corporate line, ask to speak to an associate-you may have to do so twice to be redirected from the automated line. Due to long wait times, they give you the option of having them call you back; you will be able to file a complaint when they do.
TRYSTEREO KIT MAKING AND OVERDOSE REVERSAL TRAINING | TONIGHT
ST. ROCH PARK, CORNER OF ST. ROCH AND ROMAN
Tonight (Weds. 12/7) from 6-8pm go hangout with our comrades from Trystereo and help assemble Narcan and safe injection kits. There will be a Narcan/overdose reversal training towards the end (around 7:30/7:45pm).
This is a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with how Narcan works and what other supplies can help make using drugs safer. Chat with other folks interested in harm reduction! It’s like a knitting circle but way cooler (and lifesaving). There will be beer + seltzer and pizza from Pizza Delicious.

MAKE ENTERGY PAY CAMPAIGN | TOMORROW, THURS., DEC. 8TH | 7PM
DSA New Orleans has launched the ambitious campaign to Make Entergy Pay. In short, we're preparing for a debt strike of 10,000 New Orleans ratepayers who are fed up with Entergy's greed and mismanagement of our utilities. We are putting forward our demands for (1) No more shutoffs; and (2) Cancellation of all residential utility debts.
Our members working on the Make Entergy Pay Campaign meet every Thursday at 7pm for a weekly Zoom Call. Click here to tune in for the call tomorrow at 7pm. (The link automatically opens Zoom).
And sign the pledge if you haven't already!
ST. TAMMANY LIBRARY ALLIANCE
Do you live in St. Tammany Parish or know others who do? The St. Tammany Library Alliance needs your help! Please sign and share their Petition. And let us know if you’re based in St. Tammany and interested in getting involved!
The St. Tammany Parish Library Alliance is a grassroots group of people and organizations defending St. Tammany Parish libraries so they may continue to provide a public, neutral space with accessibility to a wide spectrum of materials for all citizens without censorship or interference by political groups, according to our First Amendment Rights.
As you may have heard, Attorney General Jeff Landry is leading a mob of fascists into a dangerous book burning movement. Hateful groups were upset by this year’s Pride displays in St. Tammany Parish public libraries and are working to censor predominantly LGBTQ+ materials. We encourage you to use Landry’s fascist anti-LGBTQ tipline to share your thoughts on fascism, book-burning, and nazis, submit large numbers of bogus tips, or to submit legitimate complaints about sexual abuse by clergy and cops.
