Veterans In Crisis Discussion Recap
|
Last Wednesday night I hosted Veterans in Crisis and the Path to Recovery Panel and Discussion. Held in Ursinus College's Schellhase Commons, I was joined by Shardae Westcott from the Coatsville VA Medical Center, Peter Whitney from the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at the University of Pennsylvania, Dennis Miller from the Office of Veteran Affairs in Montgomery County and Joseph D. Palmeri from the West Norriton VA Clinic.
I'd like to say a big thank you to the panelists for sharing your insight on veteran programs and what needs to change. Those in attendance brought up valuable points about the veteran experience with these programs, often seconding the proposed ideas that could lead to
increased awareness of programs available. I thought our conversation between the audience and panelists was highly productive and will assist me in this upcoming 2023-2034 legislative session. Please note that the video recorded during the event will be made available soon and I will make sure to notify you.
Also, as it is Dec. 7, I'd like to say a few words about the anniversary on the attack on Pearl Harbor. We remember the lives lost, both sailors, airmen, and civilians who perished in this attack on US soil and the heroic actions taken to rescue the trapped and injured servicemembers. As President Roosevelt said, this date will live in infamy, and those that perished will never be forgotten.
