Join us THIS Friday on December 9 at 9 AM as officials with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) Council hold the last public meeting of 2022. Since March, we’ve been at every single DFPS meeting, sharing the stories of the families who have been harmed by Gov. Abbott’s directive to investigate Texas families for providing their children with lifesaving medical care. DFPS' choice to comply with this cruel directive has resulted in 13 families being investigated—merely on suspicion that their kids might be transgender.
We cannot let these attacks on children, loving families, and our community continue. Here are two actions you can take now to show your support: -
Share your story by submitting anonymous testimony: If you are a transgender youth, part of a family with transgender children, or an impacted professional who works with transgender youth (healthcare providers, teachers, etc.) use this link to submit your testimony anonymously. Volunteers will read your testimony at the meeting on your behalf.
-
Volunteer to read testimony or fill a seat to pack the room: We need volunteers to attend the DFPS meeting in person on December 9 at 9 AM to read the anonymous testimony to protect the identities of transgender children and their families from being targeted by DFPS.
DFPS Meeting Location: Brown Heatly Public Hearing Room
4900 N. Lamar Blvd. Austin, TX 78751
Transgender people of all ages deserve to live their lives freely and safely, with access to medical care that's been supported by every major medical association in the country for decades. Together, we can stop the radical right's cowardly attacks on children and their families.
No loving family should fear having their children ripped from their homes simply because of who they are—let's show our strong, loud, endless support for trans kids and their families this Friday. Con esperanza, |
