Cori will not allow corporate politicians to go unchecked.
John,
This week, Congress is working on finalizing an essential piece of legislation to close out the 2022 Congressional session, the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
In a moment, we’ll explain how this defense legislation has evolved into a fight for environmental protections and what Cori’s doing to protect frontline communities. But first, we have an urgent request: Will you make a contribution of $5 to help amplify Cori’s voice on issues including environmental justice?
Here's what's happening: Sen. Joe Manchin has been working to include reforms that would speed up permitting approvals for both fossil and renewable energy infrastructure.
His proposal would include the approval of a natural gas pipeline through Manchin’s home state of West Virginia and ramp up timetables for environmental reviews of pipelines — at the steep cost of gutting bedrock environmental regulations, prioritizing dirty fossil fuel projects, and putting the communities in the frontlines of the climate crisis at further risk.
Cori will not allow corporate politicians like Sen. Manchin to go unchecked in their attempts to leverage their position of power for greedy profiteering. Thanks to the commitment of Cori and more 750 environmental justice groups, this dirty deal was not included in the final NDAA text. But this fight isn’t over.
If we're going to protect the Black, brown, and Indigenous communities most affected by the climate crisis, we must keep up our organizing. Will you help us continue to amplify this message and Cori’s environmental justice agenda with a contribution of $5 or more today?
Chip in $5
When members of Congress — or any powerful player — try to put frontline communities at risk, Cori will stand up and fight back.
In solidarity,
— Team Cori
