Last Saturday, New Mexico GOP leadership chose to continue Steve Pearce’s losing, radical, and divisive record as Chair of the NM Republicans. Steve Pearce’s tenure as Chair has been marked by MAGA radicalism and recruiting bizarre, out-of-touch candidates to run for office. Voters have resoundingly rejected Pearce and his politics time and time again.
But if there’s one thing Steve Pearce is good at, it’s unifying New Mexico Democrats.
Throughout his political career, Steve Pearce’s campaign tactics have consisted of mudslinging and distorting the truth. With his back against the wall going into the upcoming election, we know that he’s going to go back to the drawing board and go on the attack. Steve Pearce is too extreme to have any amount of power in New Mexico politics. He was the mastermind of the illegal fake elector scheme in New Mexico [[link removed]] , which sought to undermine democracy and falsely allocate New Mexico’s electoral votes to Donald Trump in 2020 after he lost our state by over 10 percentage points. After the January 6th insurrection on the nation's Capitol, Pearce tweeted that Donald Trump "...will be our President FOREVER [[link removed]] and no one can take that away from us."
Steve Pearce has been an extremist for years, as demonstrated by his homophobia, climate change denial, and anti-woman stances. We have to be prepared for whatever he has up his sleeve throughout his next term.
