2) Michael Avenatti The Late, Great Democrat Superhero
My how the worm has turned. Literally.

In case you missed the news headline yesterday: that creepy lawyer representing Stormy Daniels in her suit against Donald Trump is now going to jail for 14 years for stealing millions from his clients.

It seems like only yesterday that Avenatti, who appeared on the lefty political talk shows nearly every night during the first half of 2008 spewing hatred of Donald Trump, was the heartthrob of the Democratic presidential field. “Avenatti the hotty” became his nickname.

He was deified nearly every night on CNN as the Democrat street fighter who cared about real people. Representative Tim Ryan of Ohio praised Avenatti as a” phenomenal guy,” Then there were the flattering headlines like this one from Politico:

And then there was this from New York magazine:

It turns out Michael was just a two-bit fancy-pants crooked lawyer. But for the Democrats, apparently, that’s not necessarily a disqualification.

3) The City Of Lights May Go Dark This Winter

Will the lights be going off in Paris next year?

European countries are facing acute energy shortages this winter, after foolishly curtailing their own fossil fuel resources and going all-in on wind and solar.

We’ve already reported that Germany is preparing to use candles and firewood for light and heat while the Swiss plan to ban "non-essential" electric vehicle use. Now comes France with its energy lockdown playbook:

Local authorities will be required to present “load-shedding (power outage) plans that would reduce consumption in the areas concerned by up to 38 percent.”

If a power outage occurs, trains will likely be cancelled in the affected area...

The French government said it was working alongside the Ministry of Education to develop plans to close schools in the mornings if the area is to be impacted by rolling blackouts...

Of course, some French will be more equal than others:

Up to 40 percent of people in France will not be impacted by power outages due to the fact that they might be connected to a “priority line.”

So much for the French commitment to egalite!

4) Media Attacks Reporter For… Reporting The News

So much for the era of Woodward and Bernstein.

Journalist Matt Taibbi broke big news last week when he used his access to Twitter’s internal emails to expose how the company suppressed the Hunter Biden laptop story just before the 2020 election.

Taibbi is an independent liberal who for years was a contributing editor for Rolling Stone. His media colleagues used to celebrate his journalism, but are now viciously trashing him for “doing PR work” for Elon Musk.

The good news is that Taibbi now has 1.3 million followers on Twitter for his journalism. They were treated to his delicious riposte to all of the criticism.

5) Down Goes The Biden Military Vax Mandate
Kudos to our hero Rand Paul for leading the fight on this – which looked touch-and-go for a while yesterday. This language is in the must-pass National Defense Authorization Act bill:

Over the weekend the British Medical Journal published a meticulous study finding that mandates for young adults are unethical:

The authors wrote:

These findings have implications for mandates in other settings such as schools, corporations, healthcare systems and the military. Policymakers should repeal COVID-19 vaccine mandates for young adults immediately and ensure pathways to compensation to those who have suffered negative consequences from these policies. Regulatory agencies should facilitate independent scientific analysis through open access to participant-level clinical trial data to allow risk-stratified and age-stratified risk-benefit analyses of any new vaccines prior to issuing recommendations. This is needed to begin what will be a long process of rebuilding trust in public health.

We congratulate the GOP for standing up to Biden on this issue and winning.
