Black girls deserve to thrive. They deserve freedom and opportunity. They deserve joy.

And we know that when Black girls are supported when they have access to the quality education they deserve, they shine. Dreams bloom into reality, and liberation develops into leadership.

The transformative power of Black girls, and all students of color, to build the future they deserve is at the heart of our vision. But that light is dimmed by a system designed to hold Black girls back, and the consequences are all around us.

Understand this: Black girls are five and half times more likely to be suspended from school than white their white counterparts. Black girls are also two times as likely to be restrained in school, three times more likely to receive school-based corporal punishment, and four times as likely to be expelled.

That’s not a system that cares about the future of these girls. That’s not a system that values their lives, that respects their liberty, that honors their potential.

And I will tell you now: that’s not a system that we can allow to stand.

We envision a future where our Black girls, and all students of color, have the self-determination to achieve the education of their dreams and transform the world around them.

That’s why we are building with partners like Freedom Inc, Southern Movement Committee, and Nollie Jenkins Family Center, who are working with and in support of Black girls in their communities in Wisconsin, Tennessee, and Mississippi.

These local campaigns are interconnected, because our approach to movement building is not only about ensuring legal rights. It’s about a demand for safety and healing for Black girls and gender-expansive youth of color through abundant investment in their schools and communities. It’s about dismantling all systems that are actively working to rob them of their dignity and bodily autonomy.

Our work would not be possible without the generosity of supporters like you – people who care about the freedom and safety of Black girls and young people of color everywhere. Please, make a gift today to join us as we exclaim, “Black girls deserve to thrive!” [[link removed]]

Your support will help power the important, urgent work of liberation for Black girls and other students of color.

Thank you for being a part of our Movement.

In Solidarity,
