I’m thrilled to be writing to you,
John.

This marks my first email to all of you since joining 350.org as the new
North America Director. As you read this, we’re celebrating some enormous
wins, including yesterday’s defeat of Senator Manchin’s Dirty Deal yet
again in Congress!

In this message, I’ll share a bit more about me and what brings me to 350,
[ [link removed] ]but first I want to invite you to join me virtually
for a live webinar on Tuesday, December 13 at 7:30 pm ET/4:30 pm PT so we
can get acquainted more personally, share where we’re headed now that the
midterm elections are over, and get your thoughts on the work we should be
doing heading into 2023.

There will be a ton of helpful updates from the team including on COP27
and the major wins and challenges, what’s next with Senator Manchin’s
Dirty Deal, the latest on our Fossil Free Federal Reserve Campaign, and
what the outcomes of the midterms mean for our climate work moving
forward.

Now, a bit more about me…

First and foremost, I’m an organizer. In this role, I’ll be putting my
skills to task to help grow our organizing machine to mobilize against the
fossil fuel industry and for climate solutions.

I come with three decades of organizing experience, in labor, in
community, and in climate. As a labor organizer, I worked with everyone
from Uber drivers to renewable energy workers looking to get a voice on
the job. As a community organizer, I worked with communities fighting for
higher wages, against foreclosures and evictions, and to protect our
democracy. I have been with many of you at the frontlines of mass actions,
whether the Breakfree Action in 2016, or organizing to support Indigenous
and frontline leaders fighting the Line 3 pipeline.

I am excited to help bolster our local groups and really build an
organization that provides programming, training, a vision, and support
for everyone who has been at the frontlines of the fight against
extraction and who are looking for a new world of solutions.

We will experiment, we will not be afraid to put it all on the line – even
if that means sometimes failing – and move forward. In a nutshell, 350
U.S. is committed to continuing this critical work and we’re so grateful
to have you here as the driving force of this people-powered movement.
