Fellow Conservative,
This lame-duck Congress is desperately working to pass as many bills as they can before the new Congress is ushered in on January 3rd.
It’s very likely that the House will soon vote on the EAGLE Act <[link removed]>—a very
poorly designed immigration bill that is flawed in several ways.
This bill is on the verge of being rejected, but we cannot take anything for granted. CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVE NOW <[link removed]> and tell them to vote NO on the Eagle Act.
Here’s how the Eagle Act hurts America’s interests:
- Helps the Chinese Government steal America’s trade secrets. It alters the way that work visas are allocated to foreign nationals, with the end result being that a much greater percentage of visas will go to citizens of China. This is a national security problem because it enables the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to increase its theft of America’s intellectual property.
The CCP’s theft of intellectual property has been called “greatest transfer of wealth in human history.” Unfortunately, this bill does not provide safeguards to address this issue, and the CCP’s influence over
its people means that an influx of Chinese workers into the U.S., will enable China’s communist government to expand its cold war against America.
- Makes the problem of Chain migration even worse. The Eagle act would allow essentially anyone on a temporary visa to apply for a Permanent Resident Card (commonly known as a Green Card) if they have had an approved visa petition filed at least two years ago, giving them a path to eventual citizenship. This will lead to an immediate influx in chain migration, as once an immigrant has received a Green Card and ultimately citizenship, the number of family members whose immigration they could sponsor is immeasurable.
This extended family-based immigration is not concerned with what an immigrant can contribute to the U.S. economy, nor with the fiscal costs of bringing in less-educated immigrants. Simply put, skills-based immigration is preferable to a “chain migration” system, and the Eagle Act expands chain migration.
