What is a good way for folks to get involved?
As the Digital Director, I must say: follow us on social media ( Instagram [[link removed]] is a good place to start)! We are always uplifting the work that organizations are doing on the ground, events and actions to plug into, and political news happenings in each of Groundwork’s partner states.

How and where did you get your start in politics?
Growing up, my family stressed the importance of standing up for vulnerable people and giving ourselves to our neighbors when they need help. I continue to hold onto these values. I’d say that my political formation really began in college in Durham, North Carolina, where I got involved in efforts to help folks get access to stable affordable housing and meet their financial needs. I began to see how years of discriminatory housing policies created untenable situations for families trying to do their best. After I spent a summer in the Mississippi Delta learning about the Black Freedom Struggle there, everything else changed for me. I became really interested in social movements and how ordinary, everyday folks come together to support one another, change policies, and hold elected officials accountable. I’ve been activated in organizing and politics ever since.

Founded by Joe Kennedy III, Groundwork Project invests in year-round, local community organizing in places Democrats have gotten used to writing off. With a focus on Appalachia, the Deep South, and the Plains, we support local advocates and activists working to build durable political infrastructure and secure power for those historically excluded.
