For democracy, immigrants' rights, pregnant workers, and more.

ACLU Supporter –

With a slim Democratic majority in the Senate and a slim Republican majority in the House – we know the new Congress ahead may very likely be stuck in gridlock come January.

And that is why this final month of the year is so critical. Lame duck sessions for Congress so very rarely lead to impact, but that's not the case this year. On the heels of the midterm election results, there is a unique chance to enact policy change before the new Congress begins that could protect our democracy, immigrants' rights, gender justice, racial justice, and more.

That's why our policy teams at the ACLU have been laser-focused on the Hill in this moment, and why we're reaching out to ask you to take action with us in four of these key issue areas. Here's where we need you:

1. Tell Congress to deliver a pathway to citizenship for immigrant communities now » <[link removed]>

2. Demand Congress safeguard democracy and pass the Electoral Count Reform Act » <[link removed]>

3. Tell the Senate to pass the EQUAL Act and end unjust sentencing disparities » <[link removed]>

4. Urge the Senate to push PWFA for a vote and protect pregnant workers now » <[link removed]>

ACLU Supporter, these bills have bipartisan support and have come far along in the process of becoming law – and their passage before 2022 ends can put our nation on a path for meaningful change for our civil rights and civil liberties.

And we already know action is possible from this lame duck Congress: Thanks in part to collective activism like yours, the Senate recently passed the Respect for Marriage Act – a historic move forward in the fight for LGBTQ families. But we only have a very short amount of time for our congressional leaders to hear from us on these other crucial issues – and it is pivotal every single one of us speaks up in this moment so they know what we expect of them.

Please take these four quick actions with us today – and know whatever the new Congress brings, our advocates, attorneys, and organizers will never stop fighting for you or your rights.

Thank you,

The ACLU Team
