The Right Wing War on Teaching the Truth
Three dozen states have introduced or enacted bills or rules to restrict teaching about history, identity, and today’s social realities, and right-wing activists are mounting attacks at school board meetings, libraries, and on social media.
Thankfully, our December grantee Zinn Education Project is fighting back. They are introducing students to a more accurate, complex, and engaging understanding of history than is found in traditional textbooks and curricula.
CREDO funding this month will help the Zinn Education Project double the number of Teaching for Black Lives teacher-led study groups; expand its Climate Justice and Reconstruction education campaigns; and defend the right to teach honestly in the face of anti-history education laws.
