Dear Friends --
Homelessness is a housing problem. We produced this video to explain why.
The state of California has dedicated billions of dollars to addressing homelessness, but the results are sorely lacking: California's crisis of homelessness continues to get worse.
Teachers, veterans, grandparents, students, and many other Californians cannot afford rent find themselves experiencing homelessness.
Instead of sweeps and criminalizing homelessness, cities like Houston have shown us the actual solution: abundant, low-cost housing.
That's why we produced a new video and a new report telling the story of homelessness in California – and how housing abundance is a central part of how we solve it. Will you watch and share this video?

Our video tells the story of how California spends millions of dollars on responses to homelessness that don’t actually solve the problem.
Our cities' laws make it impossible to build enough middle- and low-income housing as well as permanent supportive housing for those suffering from chronic homelessness.
Houston, Texas has managed to cut homelessness in half over the past decade and house more than 25,000 people—all while spending less, on a per-person basis, than cities like San Francisco.
Houston's secret: abundant, low-cost housing.
In California YIMBY's latest report, we explore how homelessness in California is caused by the housing shortage -- and how the state can take up policy tools to help house people more quickly and effectively.
Will you watch and share our new video on homelessness solutions, and help spread the word today?
THANK YOU in advance for being part of the pro-housing movement, and for helping to share our video and report with as many people as you can! Together, we can help house our neighbors in a more affordable, equitable, and climate-resilient California.
Gratefully,
Ned
