Dear John, Every day the Ms. Foundation for Women shows up for women and girls of color in this country fighting for the right to give birth safely, joyously, and on their own terms. Today I ask you to join in too. It’s a fact - the U.S. is the only developed country where maternal mortality is on the rise. Black and Indigenous women are two to three times more likely to die in childbirth and we know systemic racism and injustice fuels these disparities. We also know that the solution lies in Black, Indigenous and women of color who are key experts and decision-makers in shaping systems, policy and culture change around birth injustice. The Ms. Foundation believes in community-led solutions. By investing directly in organizations led by and for women and girls of color, we are building power and ensuring that the movement is led by those who are most impacted and hold the solutions. From community-based doulas, to holistic midwifery services, to policy advocacy to empower Indigenous birthing people, Ms. Foundation is investing in a holistic movement to advance equity in birth outcomes. This is the way of the Ms. Foundation. It is powered by the passionate support of people just like you – people who believe in the power of people to make change and achieve justice for all. In this season of giving, I ask you to consider your values – consider the difference you wish to make in the world – then give generously to support the powerful work of the Ms. Foundation. When you do, your year-end support will be MATCHED 1:1 by a generous Ms. Foundation supporter. Please do not delay your action. |
