As you read this, Republicans are blocking this year’s defense budget — legislation that is critical not just to our national security, but to our Service Members and their families.

The time for short-term funding bills that Republicans can constantly hold hostage is over. President Biden is calling for a full year’s worth of funding for the Department of Defense — and we are backing him up.

First and foremost, we need a full year of funding, so that we can properly address rising security threats to all of us, and keep us safe. Rising threats from China and Russia. We can’t defend against them if the budget is constantly in limbo.

But the defense budget does so much more:

Programs to build new childcare centers for military families? That’s in the defense budget.

Programs to help save lives and get help for members of the military contemplating suicide? That’s in the defense budget.

So yes, this bill is about the very security of the United States.

But it is also so much more. And we need your help to get it passed:

Please sign our petition telling Congress to pass a FULL-YEAR appropriation for the defense budget. This will fund programs critical to Veterans and their families. Short-term fixes that need to be renegotiated every month are not good enough.
