CVS Health has heard from us countless times over the past year — in person, over the phones, and even at their annual virtual shareholder meeting. But still, CVS continues to put their profits over the health of people across the country.
It’s recently been revealed that CVS Health was sued earlier this year for asking customers to donate to the American Diabetes Association (ADA) during check out, then using those donations to reimburse themselves for a legally binding obligation of $10 million that the company had promised to the ADA.1
This sort of deceitful and shameful behavior is what we’ve become accustomed to expecting from corporations like CVS Health. It proves once again that these kinds of corporations cannot be trusted with our health care. Add your name if you agree that corporations like CVS should not be in charge of health care in the United States.
We know their unethical behavior at the register mirrors what they’re doing more broadly with our health care system.
Here’s yet another example: While CVS pretends to care about underserved communities, they are quietly the largest spender against Medicare for All — a reform that would be a historic expansion of care to those who need it.
CVS’s vision of health care is one in which corporate profits are prioritized at the expense of patient safety. Our vision of health care justice is one in which people receive high-quality, therapeutic care from professional caregivers, free at the point of service.
All year long, nurses and community supporters have demanded that CVS Health’s leadership put patients before profits. We need your help to spread the word about CVS’s shameful acts against our health — will you add your name now to help spread our demand?
