Team, Last week, the U.S. Senate passed the Respect for Marriage Act, a historic bill to protect the rights, freedom, and dignity of same-sex and interracial couples. Now it’s the House’s turn — and though I don’t take office for another few weeks, I am still going to do my part to get this vital legislation across the finish line so President Biden can sign it into law. And I’m hoping you will do the same.
This year’s horrific Dobbs decision stripping away a woman’s right to choose made it all too clear that we cannot rely on Supreme Court precedent to protect Americans’ basic rights. The Respect for Marriage Act ensures that no matter what the far-right SCOTUS majority tries to do, millions of Americans who are in loving, same-sex and interracial relationships will continue to have access to marriage rights and protections under federal law. Thank you, Brittany Pettersen |
