Ayanna’s amendment to strengthen maternal health care for people who are incarcerated just passed the House!
Included in the Pregnant Women in Custody Act, Ayanna’s amendment provides counseling services for people who are incarcerated when they give birth or shortly thereafter.
Maternal health care doesn’t stop at birth. Every person should have the resources they need to support their pregnancy AND postpartum recovery — including those behind the wall.
And getting this amendment passed is a huge win for our movement to transform our criminal legal system and ensure comprehensive care is universally available.
In solidarity,
