Hi John.
I hope you’re well! As we move closer to the Holidays, I wanted to share some resources that may help you and your family. We’re always here to serve every person and corner of our community, regardless of party.

Medicare Open Enrollment Ends Soon
In case you didn’t know, the last day of Medicare open enrollment is tomorrow, December 7th. If you’re a senior who has been wondering about changing your health plan or prescription drug coverage, this is your opportunity to do that.

Unfortunately, there are financial consequences if you go without Medicare and don’t have creditable coverage – the late enrollment penalty. And every year, Medicare’s health and prescription drug plans can undergo various changes. These changes may impact a plan’s cost or even what pharmacies may be in network.
Here are some other resources you can turn to for help:
• Watch our Facebook Live on Medicare Open Enrollment. I recently held a Facebook Live on this issue. Watch the video to get answers to questions and for a helpful overview.
• Get the “Medicare and You” handbook. Medicare’s annual guide can help answer questions about Medicare too. You can also call 1-800-Medicare.
• Help for Seniors. You can visit my website’s Help for Seniors page for more resources.
I know Kansas seniors depend on Medicare – which is why I’ve voted to strengthen the Medicare guarantee.
In fact, starting on January 1st, 2023, Medicare will finally cap the cost of insulin at just $35 a month. This is one of several exciting changes that are around the corner. That includes finally letting Medicare negotiate for lower prescription drug prices.

If you’re not on Medicare and need health insurance, help is available for you too. The health insurance marketplace at healthcare.gov is now open for business.
Coverage may be more affordable than you think! New tax cuts that I voted for are lowering premiums for folks who buy their own insurance.

If you need health insurance, please sign up for coverage by Thursday, December 15th.
Here are some additional resources that may help you:
• Get in-person assistance. Different insurance plans can be complicated. You may be able to find local assistance to help navigate your options.
• Help with surprise medical bills. I worked with Republicans and Democrats to pass a new law to ban surprise medical bills. If you need help, you can access new tools or file a complaint.
• More health care resources. You may be able to find more assistance on my website. That includes community health centers or affordable coverage for children.
More Help for Hardworking Kansans
I understand many folks need resources that go beyond health care too. A lot of people are continuing to grapple with high prices and that can be especially challenging at this time of year.

Here are some resources you may be interested to know about.
• Help with billing. Use the Home Energy Saver Calculator to see if you’re paying more than what’s typical for your zip code. There may be steps you can take to save. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau also offers resources for credit cards and more.
• Affordable high-speed internet. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law I helped pass established the Affordable Connectivity Program. The new initiative helps more families afford high-speed internet – up to $30 a month off internet bills.
• Tax relief. I voted for the law that cut taxes for families with children by expanding the Child Tax Credit in 2021. You may still be eligible for relief under this credit if you haven’t yet claimed the full amount.
• Reclaim lost property. Lots of folks often lose track of old paychecks, bank accounts, insurance proceeds, and more. The state treasurer’s office can help you recover lost property for free!
• Helping you. Remember, my team is also always here to serve you if you’re having issues with the federal government. That’s everything from backlogged veterans’ benefits to stalled passports. We’ve helped return more than $11 million to local taxpayers and we’d be honored to help you, too.
My team and I will keep doing everything we can to connect folks with all the resources and help that we can. My job is to serve every person and corner of our community, no matter what.
Whether we agree on everything or not is beside the point. Everyone deserves a government that works for them – not just for big corporations, special interests, or the extremes of either party.
It’s an honor to serve you in the U.S. House of Representatives. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
My warmest regards,
Sharice L. Davids Member of Congress
