We can't let this happen in our America. In our America, we must demand an end to racist, xenophobic, hateful policies.

Here's the deal: On Washington state's border with Canada, Americans are being detained for absolutely no reason -- except that they happen to be Iranian-Americans.

This is beyond unacceptable. It's antithetical to our American values.

It harkens back to one of the darkest moments in our past -- when Japanese-Americans were detained in Washington state during World War II, and their constitutional and civic rights were removed out of fear and hatred. We can never let that happen again.

No one should be discriminated against because of where they come from, how they look, or what language they speak. This practice needs to end, and it needs to end now: Join me in calling on President Trump to stand with ALL Americans and stop detaining Iranian-Americans at the border NOW.

Now is the time to stand up and make it clear that xenophobia and hate will not stand in Washington state.

We've learned time and again that we cannot trust the Trump administration. In response to multiple firsthand accounts of CBP agents seizing Iranian-American's passports while they waited for up to 12 hours for re-entry into the United States, Customs and Border Protection tried to say these reports of targeted xenophobia weren't true. But the fact is, this detention policy is right in line with this administration's never-ending targeting of immigrants.

Here in Washington, we have a long history of standing up against these kinds of injustices: We fought back hard against the administration's hateful "Muslim ban" -- in fact I was the first governor in the country to do so -- and reinforced our status as a sanctuary state for immigrants of all nationalities. But simply put: We need to do more.

I will do everything I can to fight for the rights of all Washingtonians, but I need to know you're with me: Join me in calling on Donald Trump to end the CBP policy of detaining Iranian-Americans at the border right now -- add your name.
