Featured Funding OpportunitiesU.S. Department of Energy Renew America’s Schools Grant ProgramThis program will support the implementation of infrastructure improvements in schools. Funds will position school districts to make upgrades that will lower facilities’ energy costs and foster healthier learning environments for students. Eligible projects can include a variety of energy improvements, including new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC). The deadline for applicant concept papers is January 26, 2023, and full applications are due April 21, 2023. Apply Here!New York State Department of Environmental Conservation High Hazard Dam Rehabilitation GrantThe goal of the High Hazard Dam Rehabilitation Grant program is to provide funding for technical, planning, design, and other pre-construction activities related to the repair, replacement, reconstruction, or removal activities associated with rehabilitation of an eligible high hazard potential dam.Funding for this grant opportunity is provided by the DEC Dam Safety Program through funding under the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) High Hazard Potential Dam (HHPD) grant program.Applications are due February 10, 2023, 3:00 PM, ET. Affordable Connectivity Outreach Grant ProgramThe goal of the Outreach Grant Program is to facilitate the promotion of the Affordable Connectivity Program and increase awareness of and participation in the Affordable Connectivity Program among eligible households.Eligible applicants include local governments, public housing agencies, social service providers, education organizations, and nonprofits. Learn more about the Affordable Connectivity Program which provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service for eligible households here!NYS Veterans’ Nonprofit Capital ProgramOn Veteran’s Day, Governor Hochul announced the creation of the state’s new Veterans’ Nonprofit Capital Program. Eligible nonprofit veterans' organizations may apply for reimbursement for costs related to capital improvements designed to expand and enhance quality services available to the state's veterans, service members and their families. Funding for projects will range between $25,000 and $75,000 and be administered by the New York State Division of Veterans' Services.The Division of Veterans' Services will host a webinar for potential applicants on Thursday, January 12, 2023, to outline the program and application process. Featured AnnouncementTonko Announces $274K Local Award for Alzheimer’s Detection ProjectLast week, I announced that Early Alzheimer’s Diagnostics LLC of Glenmont was awarded a National Science Foundation grant totaling $274,713 for a project to develop saliva screening tests that can detect Alzheimer’s disease before the onset of devastating symptoms such as memory loss.Far too many Americans have experienced the devastating impact of Alzheimer’s. Early diagnosis can have a major impact on ensuring access to treatments and vastly improving quality of life for patients and their families. I have long been at the forefront of efforts to increase access to early diagnostics for Alzheimer’s disease, and I’m proud to see this innovative research taking place here in the Capital Region. I’m thankful to Early Alzheimer's Diagnostics for their innovative project, and I will continue working to deliver a compassionate federal response that supports all those living with Alzheimer’s and their loved ones. Small Business ResourcesCOVID EIDL Repayment: Everything You Need to KnowFor many COVID Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) approved by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), initial payments became due in October 2022, and most will become due over the next few months.Yesterday, our local SBA Upstate New York office hosted a webinar about COVID EIDL repayment. State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) ProgramsOn August 19, Governor Kathy Hochul announced New York State has been awarded $501.5 million in federal funding through the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI), a program through the American Rescue Plan Act. SSBCI provides funds to support programs for small businesses, with a focus on recovery from the economic effects of COVID-19 and allowing traditionally disadvantaged small businesses the opportunity to succeed in the post-pandemic economy. A few of the programs supported by this funding are:Capital Project Loan FundNew York State Innovation Venture Capital FundPre-seed and Seed Matching Fund ProgramNew York Small Business Development Center (NYSBDC)The NYSBDC provides small business owners and entrepreneurs in New York with the highest quality, confidential business counseling, training, and business research at no cost.The Albany Small Business Development Center serves small businesses in the Capital Region.
