Dear John,
As I reflect on our year’s success and blessings, there are more reasons than ever before to look ahead to the New Year with optimism. First Liberty has made huge progress in the fight to restore faith and freedom in America.
By God’s grace and thanks to your continued support, 2022 has been a tremendously fruitful year for First Liberty.
Our two landmark victories at the U.S. Supreme Court in our Coach Kennedy and Treat Children Fairly cases—as well as the many wins we secured in federal courts and in communities all across America—are renewing hope for the future of our First Freedom in our country.
But this winning streak doesn’t mean we can sit back. The battle is far from over.
Now, more than ever, we are in a position to go on offense together. It’s the perfect time to capitalize on our success, and we need YOUR SUPPORT to continue building on this momentum.
Let’s Restore Faith in America TOGETHER in 2023 »
As we start our most important revenue month of the year, we are about $1.8 million behind where we were last year at this time and we need to meet our budget.
In 2022, we poured a tremendous portion of our Fighting Fund resources to achieve two precedent-setting victories at the nation’s highest court.
The hundreds of work hours, manpower and finances we devoted to these cases were worth every penny, of course. The investment is clearly paying off! We’ve opened the floodgates so that Americans can freely live out their faith and enjoy more religious liberty than they’ve had in 50 years.
But the truth is, we can’t risk falling short of our revenue goals. There’s simply too much at stake. We have to be faithful and good stewards with the opportunities God is creating during this special time. And that’s where you play a unique role.
Looking ahead to 2023, we’ve already appealed two cases to the U.S. Supreme Court and it’s possible a response could come as early as the first week in January. This means the Court could announce if it will hear oral argument or potentially issue a written decision in these vital cases.
The first is on behalf of Sweet Cakes by Melissa, the family-owned bakery in Oregon.
State bureaucrats forced Aaron and Melissa Klein to shut down their Oregon bakery and hit them with a devastating financial penalty after they declined to create a cake for a same-sex wedding because it would violate their religious beliefs.
Restoring freedom for the Kleins could bring relief to countless Americans who face hostile treatment and the real threat of their business being canceled because of their beliefs.
And the second case we’ve appealed to the Supreme Court is on behalf of Gerald Groff.
U.S. postal worker Gerald Groff was wrongfully forced out of his job because of his religious beliefs. We’re asking the Supreme Court to apply the law as written and require employers to grant meaningful religious accommodations.
Winning Gerald’s case could have major implications for every religious person in the workplace.
Renew Hope in America with your gift TODAY!
For our legal team, this rapidly approaching January deadline gives us LESS THAN A MONTH to present everything—legal briefs, arguments, facts and all the necessary evidence—the Supreme Court needs to decide whether to take up these cases.
With the stakes at an all-time high and the clock ticking, our attorneys will be working diligently this Christmas season to make sure everything is razor-sharp for submission to the Court.
This is a huge opportunity, and I’m counting on your generous support to make the most of it. This December, we need to finish in a strong financial position.
And there is no better time to give than right now.
With two more Supreme Court cases before us, we must replenish our Fighting Fund resources. Plus, our year-end $400,000 Challenge Grant maximizes your gift so you can protect religious liberty in this unique season.
Together with the support of courageous patriots like you, we are committed to reclaiming our First Freedom now more than ever. Your donation today will have a rippling effect on the freedom of future generations.
So prayerfully consider a donation of any amount. We have ground to make up and a $6.25 million goal to reach by Dec. 31st and we need your help to make this possible!
Thank you for entrusting us with your gifts. We’re blessed to have you, John, as one of our allies and supporters.
Gratefully, Kelly
