Lawyers are needed to conduct legal research to help create new resources to empower local nonprofits deepening civic engagement in their communities. This is a remote opportunity, and lawyers in any state are welcome to volunteer.

Help Pass New Laws Expanding the Rights of Vulnerable Communities

Rise Up, Inc.

Support volunteers as they work to pass laws pertaining to the rights of immigrant communities, sexual assault survivors, and/or victims of online child abuse. Tasks may include legal research, reviewing and editing draft legislation, giving feedback on memos to legislative and governors' offices, and more. This is a remote opportunity, and lawyers in any state are welcome to volunteer.

Help Low-Income People Navigate Income Tax Issues

Erie County Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project

Lawyers are needed to help low income people navigate income tax challenges, including negotiation of tax debt, levies and liens, worker classification issues, tax credit repayment issues, and tax credit denials. Training and mentorship provided. This is a remote opportunity. Though this organization is based in New York, lawyers may be barred in any state.
