The fiscal policies of federal and provincial governments – taxing, spending, and borrowing – are unsustainable.
That's the finding of a new study published by the Fraser Institute today.
The study is an evaluation of three fiscal rules that Canadian governments could adopt.
It finds that balancing the budget through spending restraint is the best option. It has a number of benefits, including sustainability for future generations; better economic growth; and increased household spending!
