Hi John,
This year showed that against all odds, New Americans are defining the future of progressive governance in the United States. That’s why I’m savoring the incredible victories our movement gained on Election Day, including:
- 65% of NAL alum candidates won their races in 2022!
- Alum Segun Adeyina is one of five Nigerian Americans elected to the Georgia State House this cycle, and the first Black immigrant to be elected to the newly created 110th district.
- Alum Priya Sundareshan became the first AAPI woman to represent the 18th district and the first Indian American woman in the Arizona legislature.
Thank you for supporting this unique space for New Americans to learn best practices to run a campaign and find peer support and solidarity. We have achieved so much thanks to your commitment to political transformation, and I can guarantee other incredible victories are in the works.

The future is uncertain. It’s been half a year since Roe was overturned, the end of DACA looms, and a potential reversal of affirmative action will unravel safety and security for women, working people, and immigrants. We need brave advocates in office, capable of representing our needs and developing creative legislation that preserves and expands fundamental rights.
Your gift will ensure future New American candidates can be champions of progressive legislation and serve as our defense against threats to democracy. But we need your support. John, please make a tax-deductible gift of $500, $250, $100, $75, or $50 to support our work in 2023.
It will take all of us to fight off attacks from the right wing, but I have immense faith in the NAL network. I deeply value your partnership and support of this transformative work, and look forward to celebrating victories together in 2023.
Onward,
Ghida Dagher
