This morning, Joe called into radio stations across Massachusetts in the wake of the missile strikes on American and Iraqi bases last night. His message was clear:

It's not enough to just limit the President's actions in Iran – though we must do that. Congress has to go further and immediately repeal the current authorizations for use of military force in the Middle East. No president, let alone the current one, should unilaterally decide when to go to war.

Congress has abdicated its Constitutional authority and allowed presidents to engage in ever-expanding conflicts in the Middle East since the early 2000s. No more.

No more unauthorized wars – Demand Congress repeal the authorizations for use of military force in the Middle East so no president can sidestep the American people to go to war:

If the president wants to put more American lives on the line, if they believe there is justification for ANY military engagement overseas, then they must get authorization from the elected representatives of the American people. They must come to Congress and make their case. And Congress must be brave enough to take a vote.

This country doesn't go to war without its people's consent. End of story.

Team Kennedy
