The Virginia General Assembly convened earlier today, and this year, Democrats have control of not one, but both chambers. Our new Democratic majority comes after a quarter-century of Republican control.

Now that we have a Virginia General Assembly that isn't just bought and sold by special interest groups, this year we can start tackling the issues that matter.

Listen, I'm talking about gun safety, affordable housing, and our schools -- not to mention finally passing the ERA.
