Did you know there is a specific legislative provision ensuring that your federal tax dollars do not fund abortions?

 

Since 1976, the Hyde Amendment has protected American taxpayers from paying for abortions. Throughout its history, the Hyde Amendment has received widespread bipartisan support from both Congress and the White House. But if President Biden, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), and their pro-abortion allies in Congress have their way, this critically important provision could be undone.

The pro-abortion lobby is hard at work trying to roll back the Hyde Amendment, as well as the many pro-life victories achieved during the Trump administration, including:

• The Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance (PLGHA) policy, which blocked funding for international organizations that perform or promote abortion;
• A Title X rule change that closed an abortion funding loophole by ensuring financial and physical separation between family planning clinics and abortion facilities;
• An executive order that reinforced existing protections for children born prematurely, with disabilities, or in medical distress, including infants who survive abortion; and
• A conscience exemption from the Obamacare “contraceptive mandate” for organizations with moral or religious objections to purchasing insurance that includes coverage of contraceptives and abortion-causing drugs.

According to a January 2021 Marist poll, 58% of Americans oppose taxpayer funding of abortion. But unless you and I — and many thousands of other Americans who value life — speak up now, the Pelosi-led House and Schumer-led Senate are very likely to ignore the will of the people and act against our values and the lives of the unborn — especially as a "lame-duck" session of Congress looms on the horizon!

 

You and I must take a stand NOW to preserve pro-life policy and ensure the Hyde Amendment remains intact for future generations.

 

President Biden’s proposed federal budget for this year removed the Hyde Amendment—following through on a campaign promise made by every Democratic presidential candidate in 2020. We must act now to demand that our tax dollars NOT fund abortions.
