Tomorrow is the big Georgia Senate election. This is the time to make one final donation to Senator Raphael Warnock -- and if you can, sign up for one call shift from your home.

Rachel Maddow recently asked me "How different would your ambitions be if it was 51-49 instead of 50-50" in the U.S. Senate?

The truth is it's not a 1% difference. It's a world of difference.

The first reason 51 votes matters is speedy confirmation of judges and other important nominations. Every time we have a tie vote in committee, it delays things for a week. You have to go to the floor, you have to get the time, and you have to bring Vice President Kamala Harris there and do what's called a motion to discharge out of committee. If we have 51 seats, Republicans can't obstruct key nominations.

The second reason 51 votes matters is you can get different bills out of committee much more quickly. Especially with a Republican House, this will allow us to set the national agenda on things like minimum wage, child care, the child tax credit, challenging big monopolies, creating more jobs, taking on Big Oil to tackle climate change, ensuring legal contraception, protecting democracy, and so much more.

The third reason 51 votes matters is that no one senator has a veto. When you have 50 senators, any one senator can say, "I'm not voting for it unless I get this, this, or this." With 51, we can go bolder and quicker -- to show Americans what Democrats stand for.

That's why now is the time to make one final donation to Senator Warnock -- and if you can, sign up for one call shift from your home.

Raphael Warnock is a great senator for Georgia. He's the person who took the lead on getting insulin in Medicare to only cost $35 instead of hundreds of dollars. He's one of the people who took the lead on expanding Obamacare, so more people got health care and it will be cheaper. He's stood up for farmers who faced discrimination. And he's been a moral force in our caucus.

On Wednesday, voting in this election will be over. Now is our chance to impact the next two years of action in the Senate.

The PCCC has been critical in key fights and works closely with my office and others on Capitol Hill. Let's enter the new year with boldness -- together.

-- Senator Chuck Schumer
