Your weekly Indivisible Newsletter Indivisibles,
The Georgia runoff is tomorrow, and almost two million people have already cast their ballots. MAGA Republicans tried every tactic in the book to deter people from voting, but thanks to the hard work of Indivisibles and our in-state partners, people are still turning out to vote.
We're in awe of the commitment Indivisibles have shown to winning this race. From the local groups mobilizing in Georgia, to the thousands of folks around the country who signed up to volunteer, and everyone who donated and helped us raise over $400,000 to make our work possible. Those contributions helped fund:
- 📱 Over 850,000 texts sent to recruit volunteers and mobilize voters
- 📞 Over 80,000 calls made (with one more phonebank happening today!)
- 📬 30,000 pieces of mail sent to rural southern Georgia
- 🖥️ GOTV digital ads that launched this weekend
- 🚪 Our Neighbor States Program that brought dozens of Indivisible volunteers to Georgia to boost our door-knocking efforts
- 📄 Thousands of pieces of custom-designed canvassing lit for GA groups and volunteers who have knocked on thousands of doors
We're not done quite yet -- there are still doors to knock and voters to call -- but we're well on our way to reelecting Senator Warnock and securing our 51st vote in the Senate.
With that, here are your weekly to-dos:

- Read and share our newest Indivisible Unpacked resource on Trump’s Push for Political Violence. Trump has brought open hate speech and violent rhetoric back into the mainstream Republican Party. Read up on his tactics, the deadly results of that rhetoric, and what we can do to combat it.
- Read and share our Indivisible Unpacked resource on the MAGA War on Free Elections. This Wednesday, SCOTUS will hear arguments in Moore v. Harper, a case that revolves around the crackpot ‘independent state legislature theory’ that MAGA Republicans want to use to seize control of our elections. While our midterms wins insulated us from the worst-case scenarios in the short term, 2024 looms large. Learn more about the case, how we’re talking about it, and ways to take action.
- Sign up for the Indivisible Truth Brigade. Propaganda, false characterizations, intentionally misleading messages, and outright lies threaten our democracy and even our lives. People believe sources they trust! Sign up to learn how to fight disinformation in a way that drives change and protects our communities from the threat of extremism.
- Do you live in a rural area? Click here to join our National Rural Program. We have resources and calls specifically for our rural Indivisibles where you can learn more about strategies and issues specific to Indivisibles living in rural areas. If you want an idea of what that looks like, check out our agenda and notes from previous meetings.
The work of defending democracy continues with your help. The midterms are almost at an end, but with Trump already announcing for 2024, the election cycle continues. In order to fund all of the work we do here at Indivisible, click here to donate today.
Final Session
The “final session” or “final legislative session” is the period between an election and the inauguration of the new Congress.
This year’s final session is critically important because it is the last period where we will hold a Democratic trifecta for at least the next two years. With Republican control of the House, we know they will block any attempt at substantive legislation Democrats push forward. We must do as much as possible in this time period to deliver the Democratic agenda.
In their first act of the Final Session last week, the Senate passed the Respect for Marriage Act, sending it to the House in order to reconcile the bills before it goes to Biden to enshrine national protections for marriage equality into law. The next thing they absolutely have to address is a December 16 deadline to approve government funding and avert a shutdown. But there is still more to be done. We need them to work faster and harder so that they can pass more.
To achieve this, Congress must stay in session seven days a week until the new Congress is seated. If we can convince Congress to do this, we have the opportunity to achieve priorities such as: lifting the debt ceiling through reconciliation, passing viable bipartisan legislation like the Electoral Count Act, and securing progressive wins.
We cannot let this crucial period of control go to waste. Here’s how you can help:
National Events
Register for the Truth Brigade BIG TRUTHS BIG PARTY on Wednesday, December 14 at 6:30pm ET/3:30pm PT. Join us for our final Truth Brigade call of 2022!
