Earlier this week, Brand New Congress launched a petition to call on Congress to do their job and hold the Executive branch accountable to stop the impending war in Iran. 

Without a doubt, the assassination of Gen. Soleimani is an unambiguous act of war conducted without Congressional authorization. The Trump administration has taken us to the brink of another pointless and potentially endless war, threatening the lives of millions of innocent people and further destabilizing global peace and security. Congress must take immediate and decisive action.

I urge you to join me in signing this petition that urges Congress to do the following:

1. Immediately repeal the 2001 AUMF by voting on the War Powers Resolution

2. Reintroduce and immediately vote on the National Defense Authorization Act amendment which would block the funding for further attacks on Iran without Congressional approval

We must do all we can to ensure that there is no war with Iran.
