A few months ago, President Biden announced a sweeping plan to cancel up to $20,000 in federal student debt for more than 40 million people.
But now, this critical relief is being held up by frivolous lawsuits from Republican elected officials who are doing everything they can to stop it.
In response, the Biden Administration announced that it has extended the pause on federal student loan payments until Summer 2023.
This extension is necessary because of the cruel efforts by Republican officials and far-right judges to stop far-reaching, permanent student debt relief, even though President Biden has clear legal authority and canceling student debt would positively transform the lives of millions of people.
